About
Hi! My name is John Celio, and this is my website. Nifty, eh?
Neovenator.com is my gallery and photo blog. I am a photographer and graphic designer from the San Francisco East Bay Area, and I have a BA in Art Studio from UC Davis. I spent four years working at a professional camera shop, where I learned from some of the best in the business.
I've been blogging since 2000, but none of those old posts are available online anymore, so you'll have to take my word for it. The current blog is the third to be featured on this site, the other two being full of far too much crap to be worth keeping around. The main goal of the current blog is to have four or five new photos posted every week, with occasional other posts peppered about for good measure.
The name "Neovenator" has taken on new meaning for me since I first used it for this site so many years ago. "Neo," meaning "new" in Greek, and "venator," Latin for "hunter," has come to symbolize the way a photographer works, from my perspective. Real hunting, especially done only for sport, is barbaric and cruel. Photographers hunt for their subjects in much the same way sportsmen do, minus the violence and death. We shoot photographs, not bullets. We hunt for the one image that will make a day successful.
If you're interested in purchasing a print of any image you see posted here that is not featured in my CafePress Photo Store, please let me know by posting a comment in the blog. Thanks for visiting!
