Goodbye, Ryvet

Hello, state of carlessness. Been about two and a half years. How're you? It's nice to see you again.

I donated my car, called Ryvet because of the RYV in the license plate number, to the Human Rights Campaign last weekend, and they came to pick it up today. Being a very sentimental person, I am both sad to see it go and happy it is gone.

This is an example of conflicting emotions on my face while the tow truck driver writes down the car's mileage. Dunno if you can see them, but I know they're there, ready to shout "hurrah!" and feel sad at the same time.

Ryvet was never particularly good to me. The car was uncomfortable to drive, was never without a problem or six and those damn stripes looked so goofy I felt embarrassed sometimes. On the other hand, it was a mode of reasonably reliable transportation, let me take friends places they'd never been and had a damn good stereo and speakers. I took out the subwoofer, hoping to either sell it for a few bucks or put it in a future car, that's how good it was.

So, farewell Ryvet. May you produce some good money for the HRC, and may your future not include being chopped up for scrap.

Well, at least you can now rent the parking spot?? Anyway, I remember with sadness when the Buick Flying Zuchini was towed away like that and still have the photos somewhere. Have a good one. See you this weekend!
