An old term paper of mine:
Julia Morgan: The Quiet Pioneer

Friday, July 18, 2008

Have you ever bought a magazine subscription from a door-to-door salesperson? I just finished reading this compelling article about the traveling magazine sales industry. I am now ashamed to admit I fell for a "dirty canvassing" sales pitch and bought a couple subscriptions from a guy claiming to be competing for scholarship money.

Spread the word: buying subscriptions from those people only supports a dark, sleazy and corrupt industry.

I always feel sorry for the poor exploited kids, but have only fallen for it once quite a while ago. Now as soon as they start their pitch about how they are from the inner city and just trying to better themselves I tell them I don't want magazines before they can even say the word. I always ask them if they are okay, they always say they are fine, but I wonder. Now their faces will haunt me wondering if they got back home okay.

So did you get home okay from the wedding?
