Went to the dentist monday. Jaw's been sore lately, and I figured I'd been clenching or grinding my teeth at night. Dentist agreed, said a mouthguard would be the solution. The one he would make me would cost $560. D'oh! Guess I'll be getting one of those boil-to-fit sports mouthguards instead.

No matter if they are off the shelf or dentist made they are well worth it but a little hard to get used to. Eventually you see them as a little pacifier. (Did you see Sada? - at least he is reasonable and would work out a payment plan with you.) It is well worth it -- grinding leads to other problems besides sore jaws.
Keep cool -- I hope you didn't lose your power like elsewhere in your city.
Take it from me--try to get the one from the dentist. They fit properly and last forevah. I take it to the dentist every time I have work done, just in case they have to adjust my guard.
I used those boil yer own ones for years and developed such bad clicking in my jaw joints. My made-to-order works so much better.
Know why I started wearing one? I was going deaf, so I thought, but a hearing test told me it was not my ears--it was my clenching my teeth at night! It caused my muscles to spasm and block my ears. Wierd, eh?
Love,
Aunt Julie
